The Tinman Steels story began in 1987. Founded on the principles of technical expertise and British manufacturing quality, we have spent nearly four decades evolving from a local specialist into a leading UK manufacturer of steel roofing and cladding.
While our roots are local, our reach is nationwide. Our strategic location near the M42 and M6 corridors serves as a logistical advantage for our customers. It allows us to maintain total control over our production timelines and offer reliable delivery to every corner of the United Kingdom.

Leslie (Dad / Grandad) starts by selling Corrugated sheeting under the name “Les-ed” in 1987. The name Les-ed comes from the names of Leslie and Edna (Mom / Nan)
Family run business based in Erdington, Birmingham.
In 1990 the company changed its name to Tinman. The name Tinman came from a farmer’s wife who said “You’re the man who sells wriggly tin, the tinman”
In 1999 Rob joins his Dad
In 2002 Ashley joins his Dad and Grandad making it now 3 generations working at Tinman.
In 2007 we introduced box profile to our product range
In 2008 we moved fully in to the yard in Tamworth. Rob Obtains our yard in Tamworth Staffordshire where we are still at today. The office for Tinman was still in Erdington in the spare room of Leslie and Edna’s house.
In 2012 we became a limited company. This is when Tinman Steels Ltd was born. We also expanded our product range even more. We started supplying purlins, fixings & foam fillers. We purchased our first box pan folder allowing us to manufacture our own flashings!
2018 we expanded again and started selling insulated panels.
2019 we extended our warehouse giving us more space and the ability to hold more stock items.
Purchased our first CNC folding machine allowing us to now make 3.000mtr flashing’s, profiled sheeting and more!

Justin - Driver
- Our friendly driver delivering goods and good vibes
- Always smiling, always helpful and always on the go
- Runs on coffee (the stronger the better!)
- Will lift anything, unless it’s his head for a photo!
- Knows every road like the back of his hand.
Oli
- The newest recruit to the Tinman Steels team and already making a big impression.
- If you need flashings, Oli is your man – he can make your flashings in a flash!
- Brings plenty of energy, enthusiasm, and the occasional bad joke to the working day.
- Known as the muscle of the team, there's rarely a heavy lift that Oli won't volunteer for.
- Always ready to muck in, whether it's in the workshop or helping out wherever needed.
