Tinman Origin Story

Leslie (Dad / Grandad) starts by selling Corrugated sheeting under the name “Les-ed” in 1987. The name Les-ed comes from the names of Leslie and Edna (Mom / Nan)

Family run business based in Erdington, Birmingham.

In 1990 the company changed its name to Tinman. The name Tinman came from a farmer’s wife who said “You’re the man who sells wriggly tin, the tinman”

In 1999 Rob joins his Dad

In 2002 Ashley joins his Dad and Grandad making it now 3 generations working at Tinman.

In 2007 we introduced box profile to our product range

In 2008 we moved fully in to the yard in Tamworth. Rob Obtains our yard in Tamworth Staffordshire where we are still at today. The office for Tinman was still in Erdington in the spare room of Leslie and Edna’s house.

In 2012 we became a limited company. This is when Tinman Steels Ltd was born. We also expanded our product range even more. We started supplying purlins, fixings & foam fillers. We purchased our first box pan folder allowing us to manufacture our own flashings!

2018 we expanded again and started selling insulated panels.

2019 we extended our warehouse giving us more space and the ability to hold more stock items.

Purchased our first CNC folding machine allowing us to now make 3.000mtr flashing’s, profiled sheeting and more!

Present day we are a family run business that wants the best for our customers. We will always put your needs first and recommend the best products for you. We will never sell you something that we wouldn’t use ourselves or something that you do not need.
